The difference between a democracy, and a constitutional republic, must be known, and understood by the American people. The distinction is very simple, a democracy is, for all intents and purposes, mob rule. The majority of at least 51%, setting the pace, and at the same time, saying 49% be damned. This form of government always ends in revolution, due to the fact that you are not recognizing the God given rights of the people, and you are allowing the minority to be taken advantage of. Our constitutional republican form of government, allows for the election of persons from our own community, that we give the responsibility to do what is right. What is right, is not always the easy thing to do.
God given rights are essential, in American society, or any society for that matter, and they must be respected by the government, and the citizens. As human beings, we will naturally differ in our opinions, and we will have different world views, that are formed as a result of a variety of life experiences. It is however important, for everyone to respect the rights of individuals to do or say things that one may see as being offensive, or factually inaccurate. This enables many people, from many different beliefs and backgrounds, to coexist it todays modern society.
You can disagree with someone, and still allow them to pursue their own hopes and dreams, even though those wants, may no align with your own. If we get to the point, where 51% of the electorate vote for government control, and tyranny, the this country will be finished. We must be tolerant of others wants and needs, and that isn't a one sided deal, we have to resist imposing our views on others, take note liberal media. Conservatives must also note, that you cannot ruin someone's whole life because they were on drugs. Cut out the self righteous quest to protect people from themselves. We can all live peacefully if we allow liberty to flourish.
