A leftistl cannot say the word capitalism, without also mentioning "greed" in the same breath. It is buried deep in their brain, capitalism is seen by some as corporations stealing from people. Taking away a piece of Joe America's portion of the collective pie that he feels, should be cut equally and given to every American. There are so many problems with this type of thinking, I don't know where to start.
First of all, let's get past the stealing accusation. Stealing would be the taking of something that does not belong to you without permission from the owner. The entrepreneur or corporation does something different. The entrepreneur offers goods and/or services, for a price generally paid in the applicable currency, or in some cases, something perceived as having equal value. It is laughable to see protesters holding signs trashing CEO's and the so called 1%, when these so called "greedy" multi billion dollar companies that produce the gadgets that these you activists are holding in their hands. A business's wealth or profit, comes only from the consumers who purchase a product. Without the consumer, the company ceases to exist, unless you call yourself GM. So, these activists that say they are against greed and profit, are feeding this perceived greed, with their own cash and patronage, and at the same time adding to the profits of such companies. If they are sincere, why don't they boycott such products? The answer, because these brands offer something that the the consumer wants. That's what makes the wheels of the economy turn. Now how many times did I mention government in all of this? 0
Government can only spend money that it takes from the taxpayer. Yes, there is corruption in the private sector, but that is why we have anti trust laws, RICO etc. But we can't turn to government run business and expect to get away from corruption. I would rather take my chances in a climate created and regulated by competition and incentive, as opposed to Government run business that pays ridiculous salaries to people that do minimal work, with pension included. The Federal Government is not bound to the same rules as the private sector, because the private sector has to adhere to a budget, and the Fed creates all the money they need, to cover their overspending and lack if fiscal responsibility.
Capitalism is not the bad guy, it is responsible for the highest standard of living known to man. Achieved as a result of hard work, not by the taking or conquering of ones land or possessions. The existence of capitalism is what makes America successful as a Country, and as a hub of industry and commerce.
The useful idiots that continue to demonize the so called 1%, would not be happy with an America void of Corporations. Be careful what you wish for!
