The political class is made up of career politicians, activists, and community organizers. The seem to be above the law, and they get away with murder, both metaphorically and literally. Insider trading, misuse of taxpayer money, misuse of political contributions, all of this just rolls off of their back. They look down their noses at all of their peceived subjects, and they expect nothing short of 100 % obedience. When that compliance is not given, punishment is dished out in the form of, intimidation, harrassment, blackmail, or other means, until the offender is brought to his/her knees. They are hypocrites of the worst kind, but the sad reality is that the American electorate continues to give consent, for these oligarchs to act as they act. Then the voters like to stand up and complain about what congress is doing or not doing. They have parties, drink alcohol and fly on private jets, at the taxpayers expense. These are the rich and powerful, but they exist only because they have consent. Consent at the polls.
Next we have the business class, which is actually divided into two groups. The first group is made up of those that "play ball" with the political class, and the second is made up of those that refuse to suck up to uncle sam. The businesses that make large donations to political candidates or parties, and approach the government with a quid pro quo mentality, get showered with tax cuts, government contracts, and other taxpayer funded goodies while partying with the ploitical class at social events and fundraisers. The business owners that decide to run a legitimate operation free of federal intrusion, or help from government entities, is taxed into the ground, demonized for making too much money, and told, "you didn't build that". In other words, if you fall into this class, there is the profitable choice, or the noble, honest choice. Lawlessness is rewarded, while hard work is punished.
The working class is made up of the "worker bees" or the producers. These are the people that make the wheels of the economy turn. Everything that we use on a day to day basis, has to be made, sold, transported, and put on shelves, before it reaches our hand or home. Unfortunately this is the group that is heavily taxed, worked to the bone, and after the government takes its cut off of the top, barely has enough to pay bills, much less buy groceries. Many in this group make a transition to the dependent group that we will talk about next. This transition is normally facilitated buy the loss of a job, and the lack of new jobs to replace it.
Finally we have the dependant class. This class consists of the parasite, the one that sucks away hard working taxpayer money in order to receive so called "entitlements". This class is made up mostly of those that have given up on looking for a job, or those that have been born into poverty, and have learned to "work the system". This class is growing due to the lack of incentive to be successful or produce anything. In some corners of the country you can get more in government benefits, than you can workng a full time job.
People use the word "freedom" when describing America, but I don't even know what that word means anymore. Hearing it gives me this empty depressed feeling in my stomach because, I can't seem to find it anywhere in this modern American society.
